Earthworm Landscape Design, Edmonton, AB. 2015-16

All designs where done on site and included measuring the proposed property, transferring this information and from RPR into a scaled drawing on location with the client. This kind design process involves consulting with the client constantly. All designs are done to scale by hand and colored. Design meetings take an average of 2-6 hours per client. This required a wide knowledge of trees, shrubs, perennials, soil types, construction and drainage. As well as drafting under time pressure while maintaining an open and fun experience for the home owner.

 

, Ken's Horticultural Services, Kelowna, BC. 2014

I was one of two Designers at Kens Horticultural Services. Besides design work, responsibilities included: sales, on-site hourly consultations, solving plant/shrub/hedge issues, and giving site specific design advice. Client care during the design process was is the designers responsibility. Construction details, perspectives and irrigation plans are required for construction of projects built by KHS. All designs and drawings created with DynaSCAPE landscape software. My position involved providing estimates/quotes for every budget. Acted as liaison between the construction crews and the client, solving any problems that may arise. Daily administration duties included emailing, creating newsletters, database entry, assembling informative plant books and web portfolios for promotion/advertising.

 

Heron's Nest Ltd, Red Deer, AB. 2004/08, 2012/13

Design duties included: drafting, inking, coloring, and labeling landscape blueprints, as well as creating a corresponding planting/construction legend from a survey. This required a wide knowledge of trees, shrubs, perennials, soil types, natural and implemented irrigation, drainage. Involved with general contracting, project management and landscape construction. All office, advertising and client care were shared between myself and the owner. Occasional installation.

 

Landscaping Services/Design, City of Terrace Public Works Dept, Terrace, BC 2010/11

Responsible for design, revitalization, and maintenance of city gardens (including city hall and graveyards). Prepared work crews for the construction of new project and renovation of existing sites by teaching landscaping skills and providing oversight. Frequently coordinated with other departments. This position required operation of a dump truck and larger power tools.

 

Design and Contracting, P S Designs, Edmonton, AB 2008-09

Landscape design and contracting component included: drafting, inking, coloring, and labeling landscape blueprints, and creating a corresponding planting/construction legend from a survey. Produced perspective and axonometric renderings for residential, commercial and multiplex developments. Responsible for all client and contractor relations. Subcontracting and construction aspect required: general contracting and project management, contacting tradespeople, arranging delivery and install of construction materials, and completing contracts. Personal landscaping experience includes: installation of allen block, boulder, wood and dry pack retaining walls; paving stone, flagstone, crush or gravel walkways and patios; waterfalls and features; garden beds. Also responsible for planting.

 

Artist. 2000-Present. Participated in solo and group shows a few examples being: Red Deer, Edmonton, Calgary, Victoria and New York. Collections in Australia, England, Canada, USA and Mexico.
